The Dog Who Brought Me Back
After spending several years focused on work,
school, and raising my young family, I was ready to
return to the world of Bearded Collies. Finding the
right breeder and the right puppy became an
important journey.
My search eventually led me beyond California,
where I was fortunate to meet Robin Lee Hood.
From our very first conversations, we connected
immediately. Her knowledge, guidance, and
willingness to support me throughout the process
made all the difference.
When the litter arrived, I was given the opportunity
to select the puppy who would become
*Colquhoun's Sir Winston Brody*. Looking back, I
couldn't have been luckier. Winston was everything I
had hoped for and more.
Although my family life kept me busy and I wasn't
able to participate in as many dog activities as I
might have otherwise, Winston was a wonderful
companion and a beloved member of our family. He
shared in the everyday moments of life while my
children were growing up, making countless
memories along the way.
Winston played an important role in my journey with
Bearded Collies, reconnecting me with the breed I
loved and reminding me why these remarkable dogs
hold such a special place in my heart.
A Few Claims to Fame
Winston was more than just a handsome
Beardie—he was incredibly intelligent and eager to
learn. His ability to quickly master tricks even led to
him being considered for a role in Disney's *The
Shaggy Dog*. As tempting as the opportunity was, a
BCCA National Specialty was approaching, and the
film production would have required changes to his
coat, so we decided not to pursue it.
He also enjoyed a brief brush with fame when a
photograph of him appearing to ride a police
motorcycle won a photography contest. The picture
remains one of my favorite memories of Winston
and perfectly captures his fun-loving spirit.
